…a complex plot that is both enjoyable to read and keeps you trying to figure out what is going on.

This was excellent scifi, with exquisite attention paid to detail and creating this futuristic world.”

Very reminiscent of William Gibson’s Neuromancer. This is high praise indeed but warranted.”

  • Dark Park Outline Complete

The Park Series continues with Dark Park, a deeper delve into the dystopian world of prevalent virtual reality. The outline is complete. Writing has begun.

There’s a long way to go for this project. My process mimics the various writing lessons detailed on a hundred different websites: outline, first draft, peer review, revised draft, developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, layout, proofreading, final draft, graphic design, and publishing. Twelve steps to victory and I’m on step two.

    It’s an exciting time.

  • Godsworn 1-6 Revised Drafts Complete

The revised drafts of the first six parts in the Godsworn novella series are finished and sent to the developmental editor.

This is a critical moment for an author as the developmental editor, not to be confused with a line editor, reviews my work for errors in continuity, structure, style, plot, and character consistency. They are “professional readers” who help punch up the narrative and are the first of three consultants who will make my work shine.

If I did a good job delivering a tight narrative with strong story beats and proper reader guidance, then the developmental editor won’t call for any significant rework. This is the hope but often not the reality, as there are undoubtedly story elements that I failed to flush out properly. Translating ideas from my mind to the page can be difficult.

My developmental editor is my amazing brother, Ron Lundeen. Ron has been writing and editing in the tabletop roleplaying game industry for decades, currently works for Wizards of the Coast, and cuts me a hefty family discount.

    Wish me luck.

Mind Park

In the future, technology has made reality itself replaceable. Billions of people live permanently inserted into alternative worlds, escaping the true reality of unemployment and mass poverty. All you must give is your right to vote in proxy, a meaningless gesture when you won’t even remember the life where you gave it.

But reality is not so easily fled, as these virtual worlds (“Parks”) are controlled by massive corporations locked in a vicious competition for members. Mercenaries mount incursions into the Parks of rival corporations, intent on weakening their opponents’ political buying power through any means.

Isaac Pember is a Warden with the failing Dachous Corporation, a specialist trained to enter the Parks and stop the incursions before their rampage claims too many profitable lives. With the corporation reeling from a recent mass death event, Isaac is pressed into tracking down a wayward employee gone native. But what he finds in the Parks is a brutal conspiracy that sets him racing to save lives from a mysterious new threat.

Enter the Parks.

Godsworn Series

During the Third Turning the gods warred amongst themselves wielding titanic power stolen from their overthrown masters, the ancient and mysterious Ur. The earth, seas, and sky were ripped asunder and remade as they fought for supremacy. As each god fell the remaining became more powerful, driving their conflict ever forward.

As the millennia passed and their numbers dwindled, the remaining gods grew fearful, unwilling to risk their lives in open combat. They retreated to strongholds, carving out kingdoms for themselves among like-minded others, manipulating nature itself to create realms suited to their desires.

The gods bent their prodigious magics to the creation of the godsworn, armies of mortal warriors crafted in their own image. The godsworn eagerly proxied for their rulers and the battles continued, now as conflicts of conquest, politics, intrigue, and assassination.

A tenuous collective of kingdoms formed in the middle of the continent as the extremist gods were pushed to the fringes. Those with an unwavering dedication to order, evil, purity, or chaos, were banished behind great barrier walls for their unwillingness or inability to compromise. There they continue to seethe in defeat.

Now, in the Fourth Turning, it’s time for the godsworn to forge their own destiny in the shadows of the reclusive God-Kings. A time of warriors, wizards, rogues, barbarians, shamans, and crusaders. A time of great magic and great peril.

A time of heroes. Coming soon.
